Visitor Center de Maten

At the Slagmolen—an old watermill in Genk—Natuurpunt helps visitors discover the De Maten nature reserve. We developed the interactive kids’ section, crafted from wood reclaimed during the mill's renovation. The tabletop features a 1:2500 map of the reserve's waterways. Turn the wheel to select a local animal, then press the button to hear its sound and watch a short film. A light will turn on at a pond that doubles as a lid; open it to find matching objects. Touch a fox skull, admire kingfisher feathers, feel wood chewed by a beaver, and much more.
